Well, the more I find out about this case, the stranger it looks .... in fact, it seems even more complicated than the Michael Jackson mess. I mean there were
actual complaints filed against MJ and he was brought to trial. He may have been guilty and managed to bribe his way out of conviction, but at least formal
charges were brought. In this case, there's a lot of smoke, but no one seems to have accused the David's Farm guy of actually setting a fire. In the
absence of formal legal complaints against him, the Canadian government can't close down his amusement park, nor can Youtube boot him off it's boards
-- either action would probably be technically illegal. And if the authorities did manage to do close down either his dirtside or his on-line operations on the
base of "strong suspicion" alone this would be setting foot on a VERY slippery slope. So I still have very bad feelings about this guy, but I also
understand why he's still in business. So as I said, the more information I get about this matter, the less comfortable I feel about the whole thing....

The quality of her skits seems to be improving as time goes on, and at this point I think she will indeed achieve success as a professional entertainer. About ninety percent of the time, people who try this fall flat on their duffs, but I think she may very well end up hosting her own talk show, reality show, or some other kind of scheduled program. And whether she does or not -- this depends as much on "impressing the right people" as on the quality of her material -- she can succeed entirely on her own by appearing as a guest on other people's shows, selling specials to anthology comedy programs, and going on the road with her own live shows in clubs and rented halls. She's already fulfilled both of the basic requirements for success as a professional comic -- the ability to write and produce good routines, and enough media fame so any promotions she does will attract public attention.... |

I TOTALLY AGREE.
She is so masterfully funny with the ordinary and mundane. I mean just putting a puppet as her best girlfriend and naming her hellen is hilarious....then the tab drink on the table totally hits my funny bone to no end. I love all her instructions for hellen and well it gets no better then this. i think i did see a vid of her at that miami tupper fest somewhere.... its either vid or clip vid but its her narrating the event in her funny ass way. I just totally want to hang out with aunty or would love to have her for a damn tupper party here with my friends just because its a great thing to do in life. cackle. I will look for more vids but im gonna cackle at the way she says HI HELLEN HAHA |

Well, the vid in my #83 mentions that Auntie was going to Orlando for the "Orlando Pride" event on October 11th. Now, I assume that the vid was made well in advance and AB didn't know herself exactly what she would be doing. So it's quite likely that we'll be betting news about the event any day now, hopefully in the form of another vid on her Youtube page.... |

Well, here's a link to the "Orlando Sentinel" article on the event, but it doesn't mention Auntie: http://www.orlandosentine...ming-out,0,7709534.story Thousands gathered at Lake Eola Park Sunday, for annual Come Out With Pride event featuring a parade and speach by Stuart Milk, Harvey's nephew. A sudden rain shower did nothing to cool the spectators but the heat didn't dampen the spirit as 80 units marched around Lake Eola. (TOM BENITEZ, ORLANDO SENTINEL October 11, 2009) Estimated 50,000 show up for Orlando gay-pride parade Jeff Kunerth Sentinel Staff Writer 1:13 a.m. EDT, October 12, 2009 At Sunday's Come Out With Pride event in Orlando, Stuart Milk echoed the remarks of President Barack Obama that a new era was under way for the gay community. The day before, in an address to the nation's largest gay-advocacy group in Washington, D.C., Obama spoke of the day when "we as a nation finally recognize relationships between two men or two women are just as real and admirable as relationships between a man and a woman." He promised to revoke the "Don't Ask, Don't Tell" policy in the armed forces, sign the Matthew Shepard anti-hate-crimes bill and work for repeal of the Defense of Marriage Act, which prohibits the federal government from recognizing same-sex unions. "That's a leader who understands us," said Milk, the nephew of slain gay-rights activist Harvey Milk. "This is a president who is committed to change." An estimated 50,000 or more spectators lined the parade route around Lake Eola Park for the event, which coincided with National Coming Out Day. |

This is one of the funniest SNL spoofs I've ever seen, because it packs the full punch of a two or three minute skit into a few seconds over and over again, and manages to satirize just about every other "cocktail party planning" vid I've ever seen in just three minutes.... And the style reminded me of the approach Auntie Barbara is using more and more in her most recent vids, which is a massive compliment in its own right! <G> Muu, #522, re: "SR!!!! YEAH THE LADIES PARTY PLANNING VID FROM SNL WAS LIKE MY MOST FAVORITE THING OF THE DAY! I LOVED IT AND THEY DID IT SO WELL LIKE YOU SAID. I MEAN THE DIALOG WAS PRICELESS AND IT SHOULD WIN SOME TV AWARD I THINK FOR CREATIVITY. I TOTALLY THOUGHT AUNTY TOO SR!!! I WAS GONNA SAY THAT. SHE DOES THAT 50S THING SO WELL TOO. THAT GIRL IS FROM A SHOW CALLED MADMEN.... ITS SET IN THE 50S WHERE WOMEN DO WHAT THE MEN TELL THEM AND ARE SECRETARIES AND THE MEN ARE ADVERTISING GUYS AND THEY SMOKE AND DRINK MARTINIS AT NOON IN THE OFFICE... THAT SLICK ERA. SO SHE HOSTED THE SHOW BECAUSE HER CHARACTER IS KINDA JUST LIKE THAT SPOOF SHE DID OF THAT PARTY GIVER...HEHE SHE DOES IT WELL. I LOVE THAT VID SO MUCH IT SHOULD BE SOMEWHERE WE CAN FIND IT EASY AGAIN...MAYBE MAKE A COPY FOR TUPPER TORCH!!!" Well, here's another parody of "Mad Men" which seems to lampoon the show's basic themes and plot-lines as I read about them in the Wiki article about it. And I'll go ahead and post a message about these parodies in the Auntie thread. However, I still haven't been able to find an embeddable copy of either vid so I'll have to go with links there just like we've done here: http://www.nbc.com/saturd...es-pitch-meeting/787182/ |

What I'd like to find now is vids with excerpts from episodes showing Madison Avenue type people that were actually aired on TV during the 50's. I know there were lots of 'em, and there were also books like "The Tight White Collar" (1961) which was a reality-show type expose of the American advertising industry during the 50's written by the author of "Peyton Place". However, I'm not sure exactly how to Google up the TV stuff I want, because most of it was episodes on anthology-type shows both serious and humorous. You have a knack for finding stuff like this, so I hope you can find time to take a crack at it.... |

Well, here's a pict and article excerpt from Wiki on this, and maybe you can find some video footage that will bring it to life...
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Down_with_Love Down with Love (2003) is a romantic comedy film directed by Peyton Reed and written by Eve Ahlert, and starring Renée Zellweger and Ewan McGregor. It is a pastiche of the 'sex comedies' of the early 1960s starring Doris Day and Rock Hudson such as Pillow Talk and Lover Come Back. The film also featured David Hyde Pierce, Sarah Paulson, Rachel Dratch and Jeri Ryan in supporting roles. Tony Randall, who was frequently featured in Day-Hudson films, appears in a small role as the owner of Novak's publishing house. It went on to be his final performance. The film was released in the United States on 9 May 2003. Telling the story of a woman who advocates female independence in combat with a lothario, the plot reflects the attitudes and behaviour of the early pre-sexual revolution 1960s but has an anachronistic conclusion driven by more modern, post-feminist ideas and attitudes. |

Well, I did a Google and found some pretty good stuff right away. The link below is to a very short but non-embeddable vid showing one of the most unusual parodies of typical scenes from a "romantic comedy" that I've ever seen, and the vid below is the title song from the movie: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=48KrLDpMksE |

Gidget movies...(there are only 3 as we all know and done by a diff gidg each time.....sandra dee, then a red head and then some blonde amazon girl.....i loved that trio of gidget films) but they are in that same vein too. 50s housewife and do what my hubby says and dont read the paper or books or you might GET IDEAS...HAHA |
